Scholarships, Grants and Sponsorship application rounds now open in Woombye
Since 2009, The Community Bank Woombye has gone from strength to strength, providing tailored products and services to their customers and contributing to the Woombye community.
“We really have two simple, main objectives,” said Branch Manager, Hayley Saunders.
“These are to look after all your financial needs, and to empower and support our local community.”
Community Bank Woombye was founded when a group of local residents partnered with Bendigo Bank to create a convenient option for the people of Woombye to do their banking.
“Many people are not aware that our branch is owned by local shareholders, and most of our profits are channelled back into the community,” Ms Saunders said.
“Over the past 15 years, our board of volunteer directors have seeded over $350,000 back into the local community. Beneficiaries include the Woombye Library, the Woombye State School and P&C, the Sunshine Valley Men’s Shed, the Woombye Bowls Club, the Woombye Happy Days Festival, Parent to Parent and many others.
Alongside Grants and Sponsorships, the bank also offers scholarships to encourage local students to continue their education. The awards will provide funding to support senior high school or equivalent education.
“We are delighted to be able to support these academically-motivated students, who have shown not only academic excellence but also strong community involvement and leadership,” said Board Member, Jill Kuramoto.
The latest round of applications for Scholarships, Grants and Sponsorships is open from now until September 30. Contact the Branch on 5442 1311 to find out more.
