Patch the Pineapple to lead Woombye’s day of food, music and fun
Woombye is gearing up for its biggest community day of the year, with the Woombye Festival returning on Sunday, May 3 from 10am.
Building on the previous “Woombye Happy Days” theme, the festival has evolved into a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of local life – bringing together music, food, entertainment and community spirit in the heart of town.
Organisers are promising a full day of activity, with live music running throughout the day, alongside a packed program designed to appeal to all ages.
Highlights include dance workshops, competitions and a classic car display, while younger visitors will be well catered for with a jumping castle, petting zoo, face painting and local talent.
There’s also a distinctly local flavour, with food trucks, a lively beer garden and community groups on hand, alongside attractions such as barefoot lawn bowls, novelty contests and interactive games.
Festival-goers can expect a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere reflecting the town itself, with organisers keen to highlight Woombye’s history, character and strong community connections.
With free entry and a broad mix of entertainment, the event is expected to draw families from across the Coast and beyond.
Locals are encouraged to experience a day that celebrates everything that makes Woombye tick, from its people and stories to its music, creativity and community pride. The Woombye Festival returns Sunday, May 3 from 10am.
Chance to celebrate Woombye

In a world increasingly at odds with itself, the Woombye community will have its annual celebration on Sunday the 3rd of May to slow down and celebrate.
Globally, we are seeing wars and hostilities in several areas. We are truly fortunate to live the life we do on the Sunshine Coast. Woombye is a shining example of a positive community where neighbours know each other and care for one another.
On Sunday the 3rd of May, Hill Street will not have exhaust fumes rising up, but rather the tantalizing smells of Asian cuisine, burgers, pizza and popcorn. The sounds of car engines will be replaced with the delightful tunes of some of the Coast’s best up and coming performers.
This year, many community organisations will be on full display with opportunities to learn of their purpose and even win prizes.
Five school and theatrical groups will be giving samplers of their singing and acting skills. The annual Woombye Festival will have arrived, transforming the quiet hinterland town into a kaleidoscope of colour and sound. It is more than just a date on the calendar; it is the beating heart of the community.
Looking out over the crowd, you will see the festival is not just about the food, the crafts, or the music. It is a celebration of togetherness. In Woombye, no one stands alone. We are all part of the same beautiful, living mosaic.
As the sun dips behind the Blackall Range, casting long shadows over an emptying Hill Street, Patch the Pineapple, bestie Piggy from the Woombye Bank and the clean-up crew will return things to normal. But 2027 will see Patch, Piggy, and all their friends back to do it again!
