Woombye businesses celebrate Christmas and community with free BBQ and Christmas treats
Russell and Carlee Webber of Woombye Mechanical Repairs celebrated their 20th year of business in Woombye this year, and after a covid induced hiatus, they have decided to bring back their popular free Christmas sausage sizzle on Saturday the 20th of December.
“We regularly did these kinds of things for the community,” Carlee explained, “and we felt it was long overdue to bring them back.”
From 8am to 10am on the 20th, members of the community can enjoy a free sausage sizzle, thanks to the team at Woombye Mechanical Repairs.
“It doesn’t matter whether you are a customer of ours or not, if you are a Woombye local we would love to see you there,” Carlee said.
“In the past we have found that people have enjoyed these mornings not because they got free food, but because they loved the sense of community, and the opportunity to talk to other locals,” said Russell.
“I think this personal connection is something that is sadly missing today. As well, it is our small way of giving back and saying thank you to the community that supports us so well.”
When Carlee approached Rebecca Galler from Frankie’s Cafe and Paul Dolan from Grounded@Woombye to see if they were interested in taking part, they both jumped at the opportunity.
“We love the whole concept and our team will be busy baking sweet treats and pastries to give away on the morning,” Rebecca said.
Paul Dolan agreed “It is also a terrific way to thank our loyal customers for their support throughout the year, and we will have plenty of Christmas cookies to hand out.”
“We are excited to host this event this Christmas, and we hope to catch up with heaps of locals,” Russell said.
“Some we will know and some we won’t, but our only expectation is that people will come along, have a great morning.”
Paul Dolan from Grounded@Woombye will be providing Christmas cookies on the day.
