Woombye set to rock with retro flair at Happy Days Festival
Woombye is gearing up to turn back the clock on Sunday, 4 May, as the Happy Days Festival returns with a nostalgic celebration of 1950s and 60s culture. From 10am to 5pm, Hill Street will transform into a vibrant hub of live music, vintage cars, dance, and family-friendly activities.
Festival Director Milo Frawley described the event as a “real family fun day” that brought the community together.
“It’s all about families and community—our mission is to bring out the best in both,” he said. “It’s not just an event, it’s something that reflects the spirit of Woombye. You’ll see everyone from toddlers to grandparents enjoying themselves side-by-side. That’s what makes this festival so special—it’s local, it’s heartfelt, and it’s full of joy.
“We’re hoping for massive blue skies and a huge turnout—it really is a fantastic day for everyone. It’s a proud day for Woombye and it shows how much a small town can do when people pitch in together.”
A day of retro delights
Attendees can look forward to a full schedule of entertainment, including live rockabilly and swing bands on the main stage, free dance workshops, and a classic car display coordinated by local enthusiast Dave Ledger of Sunshine Steering. “There’s something really special about seeing these classics out on display—not just parked in a shed,” said Dave.
Children’s activities abound, with a petting zoo, jumping castle, face painting, and the Kids Klassic Kardboard Kar Klub, where young ones can craft and showcase their own cardboard cars. Competitions like Whisker Wars and the Rock n Roll Dance Comp add to the festive spirit, offering prizes and plenty of community engagement.
Food and refreshments will be available throughout the day, including classic diner fare at Clancy’s Diner and sweet treats from the Milkshake Shack by Loud & Clear. A variety of food trucks will be available for your choosing.
The festival concludes with the Happy Days Street Fair Finale at the Woombye Pub from 5pm, featuring a ‘Legends of Rock n Roll’ performance, drink specials, and raffles.
Entry to the festival is by gold coin donation, supporting the Woombye Community & Business Association.
