Woombye shines as town comes together for Lantern Parade

On Thursday December 4, Woombye locals turned out in force to enjoy the annual Woombye Lantern Parade.

A joint venture between Woombye Childcare and Kindergarten, St Margaret’s Anglican Church, the Community Bank Woombye and the WCBA, this year’s parade attracted a record crowd.

“Last night’s Lantern Parade was nothing short of magical,” said Branch Manager, Hayley Saunders.

“Our community showed up in full festive force, and the energy was incredible!”

The evening kicked off at St Margaret’s Anglican Church, with a beautiful Nativity Play and uplifting carols by Restoring Hope Parkinson's Therapy.

“Then came the moment; there were hundreds of lanterns and hundreds of smiling faces,” Ms Saunders said.

“It was a glowing parade of pure festive joy seeing families, kids, neighbours, and friends lighting up Woombye together.”

The celebrations continued at Community Bank Woombye, where the Woombye State School and SingSpire Choir brought down the house with their carols.

“We had cake (of course), plenty of cheer, and the magical lighting of the Christmas tree, and yes, it was as sparkly as it sounds,” she said.

“Nights like this remind us exactly why we love our community. They bring people together, they spark joy, and they create memories that warm the heart.

“On behalf of everyone involved, I want to thank our incredible community - you made it unforgettable. Merry Christmas.”
