Yandina Community Gardens calls for new volunteers and members
Yandina Community Gardens is inviting new volunteers and members to get involved in 2026, with opportunities ranging from hands-on gardening to behind-the-scenes support.
The not-for-profit group is encouraging locals wanting to contribute their time and skills, learn more about growing nutritious food, or simply connect with others, to come along and see what the garden offers.
President Michelle Parry said the gardens were as much about people as plants.
“We’re keen to learn from you too,” Ms Parry said. “We are welcoming volunteers to assist with a range of tasks including administration, finances, events, marketing, social media, children’s activities and workshop presenting. We welcome you to become part of our community.”
Volunteers can also get involved in organic gardening, permaculture and sustainability, with regular workshops and events held throughout the year, including the bimonthly What is Permaculture? talk.
The gardens are open to visitors on Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 8.30 to noon, when volunteers are on site to chat and show people around. The group also sells plants grown in its nursery, along with seeds, books and other gardening resources.
The Blue House at the gardens is available for private event hire.
Yandina Community Gardens is located on the corner of North and Farrell streets, Yandina. For more information, visit the group’s website or Facebook page, or email info@yandinacommunitygardens.com.au.
