The hard working team of volunteers at Yandina Historic House have thrown their efforts behind The Shack in Nambour and are holding a raffle to raise funds to support the tireless work with local vulnerable people.

“Each year we hold a fundraiser of one kind or another and this year we did not want to necessarily approach local businesses straight up because so many of them are already supporting the upcoming Yandina Street Fair,” said Historic House Secretary, Gillian Richardson.

“Once we started to put the word out about what we were doing, we were blown away by the amount of support we received from business people, residents and even visitors to the area.

The fundraiser is a raffle/ silent auction, where people are able to purchase tickets for $2 each and each ticket is placed in the box that coincides with the prize/s you would like to win.

Drawn on Friday September 5, there are 12 fabulous prizes up for grabs.

“The Ginger Factory have donated a beautiful basket of goodies to the value of $350, Mitre 10 have given us a trolley full of garden equipment, local artists and crafts people have donated beautiful wares, a professional deep tissue massager has been donated by Yandina Chiropractic & Physiotherapy, Marty Hunt has gifted some Parliamentary wine, Local Motion has donated a voucher for a magnesium spa and the Palmwoods Arts and Crafts Group have gifted us a gorgeous quilt,” she said. There are some truly lovely prizes to win,” she said.

As well, people have donated money and non-perishable food stuff, some of which has already been delivered to The Shack.

“Dale Dowler from The Shack will come along on the morning to draw the raffles, and we will have other entertainment, including Marty Hunt, who will be singing.”

There will be a sausage sizzle and lucky door prizes, and tickets for the main prizes will be available right up until 11.30am, when they will be drawn.

Yandina Historic House is at 3 Pioneer Road, Yandina.
