Yandina Street Fair promises biggest day yet with new attractions and free entry

The free-entry event will see thousands fill the town’s main streets for a full day of live music, market stalls, food, family entertainment, fireworks and community spirit.

Yandina is gearing up for its biggest day of the year, with the much-loved Yandina Street Fair returning on Sunday August 24 from 11am to 7.30pm.

The free-entry event will see thousands fill the town’s main streets for a full day of live music, market stalls, food, family entertainment, fireworks and community spirit.

“This year we’ve really packed the program,” said Yandina Street Fair Committee Chairman Greg Corbin. “From mechanical bull rides and race simulators to pony rides, roving entertainment, dance performances and carnival amusements — there’s something for every age and interest.”

Crowd favourites will return, including the petting zoo, face painting, Speedway and Classic Cars displays, plus a wide range of artisan and homemade stalls showcasing local craftsmanship. Amusement Alley will be buzzing all day, while live entertainment across three stages will feature great music and dance performances from local talent.

“Our aim is to give families a fantastic day out while also shining a spotlight on Yandina’s local businesses,” Mr Corbin said. “It’s a chance to meet the makers, taste local produce and enjoy our vibrant community. The day will also feature balloon artistry, stilt walkers and Zog & Princess Pearl from the Ginger Factory will be there.”

The festivities will end with a spectacular fireworks and laser light show, while about six lucky raffle winners will take home prizes in the Mega Raffle. “All Winners can expect a pleasant surprise as the total value of the prize pool exceeds $12,000,” Mr Corbin said.

Run by a team of volunteers and operating as a sub-committee of the Yandina Chamber of Commerce Inc, the Fair spans key streets including Stevens Street, Low Street and Railway Street.

Yandina, regarded as a hinterland gem, boasts a proud history dating back to European settlement in the 1850s. Visitors can admire the well-preserved heritage buildings that line Stevens Street and add to the town’s charm.

“We invite everyone to come early, stay late and make the most of the food, fun and festivities on offer,” Mr Corbin said.
