Local is Easy! New initiative encourages Nambour community to spend where they live
Red and Ethan from On Point Sharpening, Fabric Cartel Head Honcho Virginia and 10% Club participating business Vicki from Mr Beesley’s Vintage Clothing on Howard Street.
Two local businesses are launching a community initiative to encourage locals to support small businesses and keep money circulating within the Nambour community.
The 10% Club, a collaboration between On Point Sharpening and Fabric Cartel, is a simple monthly initiative designed to connect local businesses and reward customers for shopping locally.
On monthly scheduled sharpening days starting Saturday, March 28, customers can bring their scissors, knives, or tools of the trade to be sharpened by “Blade Boss” Ethan from On Point Sharpening outside Fabric Cartel. As part of the service, they will receive a 10% voucher that can be redeemed for a single purchase at participating local businesses during that month.
The idea is straightforward: customers take care of their tools, receive a voucher, and are encouraged to explore and support other businesses in the local area.
There are no fees or complicated systems for participating businesses. When a customer presents their voucher, the business simply honours the 10% discount and marks the voucher as redeemed.
The 10% Club, which already includes The Fabric Cartel, Banksia Espresso and Mr Beesley’s Vintage Clothing, is designed to increase foot traffic for local traders while strengthening connections between businesses in the community.
“Local businesses are the heartbeat of a town like Nambour,” said Ethan from On Point Sharpening. “The 10% Club is about creating a simple way for businesses to support one another while encouraging people to spend where they live.”
Local businesses interested in joining the 10% Club are invited to get in touch with Ethan. Participating businesses will be included on promotional posters, social media and other campaign materials throughout the year.
