Mapleton State School ‘Night of Nights’ to raise funds for student laptops
On March 27 the Mapleton State School P&C will host their major fundraising event at the Mapleton School hall to raise money for a new set of much needed student laptops.
“Currently the school only has one set of laptops which means that students only have limited access to them,” said P&C President, Elissa Bartholomew.
“This has more impact on the children in higher grades. We do not want them to start middle school at a disadvantage because of it.”
Although the evening itself is for adults only, the event has been planned to involve the entire school.
“The theme ‘Book An Adventure’ has provided a challenge for year 6 students to write the first ten trivia questions, and the prep to year 3 children will be doing some of the decorations,” Elissa said. “So the kids can be involved too.”
The School has been well supported by the local business community with sponsorships and extremely generous prizes donated.
“Our Gold sponsors are QCCC Mapleton, The Community Bank Woombye and Ottiam Group,” said Elissa.
“The Mapleton Pharmacy is a Silver sponsor and there have been some incredible prizes donated for the raffle including a dinner for four valued at ($300) from the Mapleton Public House, Maleny Botanic Gardens and Bird World, The Ginger Factory, the Kenilworth Country Bakery, The Big Kart Track, Nambour RSL, Marty Hunt and Ted O’Brien just to name a few.”
There will also be prizes for the Best Dressed.
“We are still looking for 4 more Silver level sponsors,” she said.
Tickets are available online now and there will be pizzas from Dominos and drinks from the Mapleton Public House. Door of the school hall will open at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.
“Wayne Parcell will be our MC on the evening and we are inviting people to get dressed up and come along for a great night.”
