3bCreative serves up a Feast of Theatre with Rice
Avineet (Patty Wu) is the successful owner of food truck business “Kiss My Kathi Roll”.
What happens when family loyalty, cultural identity and global ambition collide over a bowl of rice? Sunshine Coast theatre company 3bCreative invites audiences to find out with its presentation of Rice by acclaimed Australian playwright Michele Lee—a sharp, fast-moving and unexpectedly funny play that asks big questions about who we are in an interconnected world.
Rice follows the story of two women caught between family expectations and their hunger for success. Spanning continents and cultures, the play explores identity, capitalism, heritage and the cost of ambition, all with Lee’s trademark wit and theatrical flair. All the characters are played by two actors; Rebecca Munasinghe and Patty Wu. Under the direction of Anne Grant it is a story served with humour, heart, and bite.
Whether you’re a theatre lover, a foodie of ideas, or someone interested in stories about culture and connection, Ricepromises to be stimulating and satisfying.
Rice will play at the Black Box, 80 Howard St Nambour, from 13th to 22nd February. Bookings can be made at Trybooking. Search for Trybooking Rice.
