For more than 90 years, Baldwins Lawyers has earned a reputation for delivering honest, reliable and client-focused legal services throughout Queensland and across Australia.
The firm was established in Gympie in 1931 and maintains its presence there to this day. In recent years, a second office has opened in Nambour under the leadership of Zasco van Rooyen, who acquired the practice in 2018 from Bob and Maxine Baldwin.
According to Mr van Rooyen, Baldwins is best described as a “GP-style” law firm, providing a wide range of legal services while maintaining a high standard of care in all areas of practice.
“We assist clients in matters including Conveyancing, Commercial Transactions, Wills and Estate Planning, Deceased Estates, and Family Law,” Mr van Rooyen explained.
“While we offer general legal services, some areas hold particular professional and personal interest for members of our team.”
One of those team members is solicitor Monique Kedney, who joined the firm in late 2024 after commencing her legal career in the child protection sector.
“This area of law has always held a special interest for me,” Ms Kedney said. “I see my role in family law as an opportunity to support clients during some of the most difficult and emotionally charged times of their lives.
“Unfortunately, domestic violence and child abuse can be factors in these matters. I believe that to truly assist clients, you need not only legal skill, but genuine compassion and a deep understanding of what they may be going through.”
Also part of the Nambour team is Nicol Prinsloo, a Nambour local who graduated as school captain from Nambour State College in 2005.
“I didn’t enter the legal profession immediately,” Mr Prinsloo said. “I spent many years working in the corporate retail sector and overseas before deciding to pursue a career that felt more purposeful and community-focused.”
Mr Prinsloo graduated with a law degree in 2020 and has since practised in general law focusing mainly on family law and developing a particular interest in estate litigation. “There’s something especially rewarding about helping families resolve disputes involving assets, shareholdings, and company structures,” he said. “But above all, I take pride in ensuring that our clients are not taken advantage of during vulnerable times.”
Baldwins Lawyers are proud Silver Members of the Nambour Chamber of Commerce and are committed to community involvement beyond the legal realm.
“In Gympie, we’re actively engaged in various environmental and community support programs, and we look forward to expanding that commitment here in Nambour,” Mr van Rooyen said. “We see community connection as an essential part of our role as legal professionals. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office.”
