Gallery: Big thanks to Nambour’s spring clean volunteers
A big congratulations and thank you goes to the volunteers who rolled up their sleeves for Nambour’s Big Spring Clean on Sunday September 13, helping give the town centre some extra care and attention.
The community-led clean-up focused on areas including Civic Way, Currie Street and Lowe Street, with volunteers tackling jobs such as litter collection, planter box maintenance, gurney cleaning and graffiti removal. Council had a strong contingent including Cr David Law, and project officers Jemma Slater and Jorja Holmes. The gang from Queensland Rail turned up to do some garden work as did perennial volunteer Greg Rogerson from Tramco and the Chamber of Commerce’s Brian Bugenhagen and Tanya Outridge. Jennifer Barker was there from Nambour Now and Rachel Pascoe from Nambour Grown lent a hand.
Organised by Nambour Groups and registered with Clean Up Australia, the event was about more than simply making the CBD look better. It was also an opportunity for locals to work alongside one another and take pride in the town they share.
Nambour Groups Chair Rhonda Billett had encouraged residents, businesses and community groups to get involved and help “restore some town pride and have a little fun in the process”.
“To everyone who gave up part of their Sunday morning to lend a hand – well done,” she said. “Nambour looked better for your efforts.”
