Bloomhill Cancer Care has announced the grand opening of its tenth Sunshine Coast based Op Shop which is located within the emerging Forest Glen community at 343 Mons Road.
Bloomhill General Manager Mervat Quirke said the milestone opening reflects the organisation's steady growth and its deepening connection with the local community.
"Over the past 29 years, Bloomhill has been walking alongside locals living with cancer, providing nursing and therapeutic support that helps improve quality of life throughout the cancer journey.
"Our Op Shops are the engine room behind that work. We receive no on-going Government funding so we rely heavily on every donation, every purchase, and every volunteer hour given in our stores which goes towards funding the services our clients rely on.
“We believe Forest Glen is an ideal location for our latest store. It’s a growing community with residents of all ages as well as a range of quality schools, shopping, dining and sporting precincts all in close proximity," Mervat said.
The Bloomhill Forest Glen Op Shop will stock a broad range of clothing, accessories, homeware items and will be open Monday to Saturday from 9am.
“We’ve got some great items available for sale but we are always looking for more high quality donations particularly accessories like handbags, shoes and jewellery. Op shopping is such a simple way for the community to make a real difference to those who need it most. When you shop or donate with us, you're not just finding a bargain, you're directly supporting our many clients and their families, while also helping reduce landfill as well as the many issues associated with fast fashion.
"We're incredibly proud to reach this milestone, and we can't wait to welcome the Forest Glen community through our doors," Mervat said.
The Forest Glen Op Shop will officially open on Thursday 3 September with MixFM broadcasting live from 9am along with a free sausage sizzle and a special partnership with Kenilworth bakery with the first 35 purchases receiving a donut!
The shop will open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm and Saturday from 9am until 1pm.
