New owner takes over Nambour’s longest running Coffee Shop

Deb Slater from Nambour’s Bury Lane Coffee officially handed over the keys to new owner, Mark Venn last Friday after 10 years of trade.
“I am the longest standing coffee shop in Nambour,” Deb said. “I started out in 2015 and built it from scratch, one customer at a time. When people first started coming to me, they mostly didn’t know each other, but now, they are all great friends. We are our own little community down here and I think that is the thing I will miss the most.”
After starting out making coffee for her partner Glenn’s carpet overlocking business next door, Deb now makes anywhere between 100 and 120 cups of coffee each morning.
“I have been so incredibly well supported over the years,” she said. “I have looked forward to seeing my customers every day. We have great chats while I make their coffee and I have gotten to know them very well. In fact, I know their coffee orders from memory!”
When Deb made the decision to sell the business, she posted it for sale on Facebook and very quickly was approached by one of her original customers who thought the business would be perfect.
Glenn has also sold his carpet overlocking business to a Mountain Creek couple who plan to run it from their home.
“Glenn’s is also a 10 year old business and Rick and Hayley, who have purchased it, are very energetic and excited to take it on,” said Deb.
Mark Venn is the proud new owner of Bury Lane Coffee and according to Deb, he has very quickly fit right in with her regular customers.
“Mark will be keeping things as they are because he can see how much our customers love our beautiful coffee blend, and how much they enjoy the local produce we sell here,” she said.
“Mark has a background in the entertainment and music industry, so I think people can expect to see him with his guitar down here from time to time as well. He has a fabulous sense of humour and customers are already getting along famously with him,” Deb said.
And as for Glenn and Deb?
“We have bought a caravan and we are going to head north, wherever the road takes us!”
