Bushcarers kept busy removing young weed trees
Petrie Creek BushCare News with Norm Morwood.
Pictured above are Graeme and Kel, two of the dedicated BushCarers heading for a well-deserved cuppa. They had just spent a couple of hours removing young self-sown weed trees like Chinese Elms and Broad Leaf Pepper at our Florabunda site in Woombye early in May.
The bright yellow tools called Tree Poppers, make the task easy, especially in the damp soil conditions we’ve had recently.
If you’d like to join us in these local native animal habitat improving BushCare activities, the next opportunities at our sites are:-
• Florabunda Pocket in Woombye, Saturday 06 June Starting at 8am. Meet near the back Rugby oval in Victory Park, Woombye. Come down Laidlaw Rd and turn right through the large wire mesh gates just before the Gymnastics Hall and follow that road till you see us.
• Namba Creek on Saturday 20 June starting at 8am. Access is through the main gate of the Model Rail Park off Florence St Nambour.
To join in the action, you’ll need to come in “long everything” bush protective clothing including boots/shoes and a hat. All tools required will be provided. Let’s know you’re planning to come by email to Norm or just turn up on the day.
