Buy Local Weekender set to bring the town alive

From left, Suzanne King from LDL Boutique, I am Nambour’s Rhonda Billett, Aaron Borg from Bad Habit Records and  Tiarna Slater-Parsons  from Uptown Hair look forward to the Buy Local Weekender.

Nambour is pulling out all the stops for its first-ever Buy Local Weekender on June 28–29, with a packed program of markets, music, food and fun across the CBD.

Organised by local business network I Am Nambour, the two-day event expands on the Sunshine Coast-wide Buy Local Day initiative, transforming it into a full weekend celebration of community connection and local shopping.

“There’s something for everyone – foodies, shoppers, music lovers and families,” said organiser Rhonda Billett.

“It’s all about showcasing Nambour’s charm and encouraging locals to explore and support their favourite small businesses.”

Saturday will see Queen Street come alive with a precinct-wide footpath trading day, including the grand openings of LDL Boutique and the new Rogues Gallery. Free art activities, buskers, market stalls, giveaways and street eats from Jampa’s are all on the menu.

Currie Street and the leafy Lowe Street precinct will join in with special deals, street-side displays and old-school charm.

“We’re creating a buzzing, street-market vibe,” said Ms Billett.

Sunday shifts the focus to Nambour’s creative side, with two “Mega” markets at the Old Ambulance Station and Library Forecourt from 9am, featuring everything from handmade crafts to collectables, plants and vintage fashion.

Live music kicks off from 12.30pm at the Old Ambo Ramp Stage (presented by Queens of the Pit) and continues at the Black Box Theatre with an all-ages event hosted by Anti Vision. Additional acts will be performing in venues around Ann Street.

Footpath trading continues on Sunday with traders spilling onto the streets, offering specials and local charm.

“Bring your market bag and your appetite,” said Ms Billett. “This is Nambour at its most vibrant.”
