Volunteers needed to drive growing Woombye Festival
The Woombye Festival is calling for volunteers as it returns for its fourth year with a new name and fresh look.
On Sunday May 3, Hill Street in Woombye will be closed to traffic and opened up to fun, entertainment and community spirit, with more than 1500 people expected to attend.
The organising committee is now putting out a call for volunteer support.
“The Woombye Festival is such a great day. It highlights the best of living in a rural town,” festival director Milo Frawley said. “But to hold a successful event, community spirit must shine through. This may be your chance?”
Milo said volunteering was not only valuable for the event itself, but could also be rewarding for those who give their time.
By contributing a few hours to help others, volunteers played a key role in creating a memorable day for the wider community.
“Volunteering can also provide personal satisfaction, social connection and a shared sense of purpose, while helping strengthen community ties,” said Milo.
With the festival still relatively young but continuing to grow, volunteers are being encouraged to take pride in helping build an event organisers hope will remain part of Woombye for years to come.
“It’s super easy to register your interest,” volunteer coordinator Rachel Snee said.
“Simply go online and search for ‘The Woombye Festival Volunteer’. There is a link at the bottom of the volunteer page. Alternatively, email us asking for details at thewoombyefestival@gmail.com.”
A range of volunteer roles is available, from engaging with festival-goers and helping oversee children’s activities to more hands-on manual work.
The first of two meetings to welcome and update volunteers will be held at 7.30pm on Monday March 30 in the main hall of the Woombye School of Arts.
Even people who have not yet registered are encouraged to attend to learn more. For information contact Rachel via thewoombyefestival@gmail.com.
