Barry Charles and Paul Camilleri perform as The Charles Camilleri Connection
Music lovers can escape the winter chill on Saturday June 7 with a special evening of soul-stirring performances at Eudlo Hall, headlined by two of the Sunshine Coast’s most seasoned musicians.
Barry Charles and Paul Camilleri, performing as The Charles Camilleri Connection, will take centre stage alongside a line-up of guest performers for a one-night-only “Mid Winter” gathering from 5pm to 8pm. Barry Charles is renowned for his extraordinary vocal range and originality. Known as an ‘extreme vocalist’, his performances weave together soul, blues, jazz and humour in a style that’s equal parts heartfelt and electrifying.
“His songwriting touches the soul with observations of life, love, the environment, Indigenous causes, fantasy and darkness and light,” the event description reads. He’ll be joined by long-time collaborator and Eudlo local Paul Camilleri, whose guitar work and globe-spanning musical career bring a world-music flair to the evening. Mr Camilleri has worked with artists in Ghana, China, Europe and Australia, and performed at festivals including the Gympie Music Muster and the Bay of Islands Blues and Jazz Festival in New Zealand.
Adding extra texture to the night will be Brisbane’s Gareth B. Graham, described as a “travelling troubadour” whose wistful ditties and jokes often leave audiences with “a tear in their eye”.
Also on the bill are Herb Fenn and poet Ian Mackay, who will act as MC for the evening. The event promises a licensed bar, light refreshments, and a warm community atmosphere.
