If you’re in the mood for beautiful harmonies, heartfelt classics and an afternoon tea with soul, don’t miss the Mapleton Choir’s concert weekend on June 7 and 8 at Kureelpa Hall.
Performing a joyful program of ‘Choir Favourites’, the 40-member community choir will fill the hall with four-part renditions of beloved songs like Lean on Me, Blackbird, Summertime, We Belong and Billy Joel’s Lullabye.
The program also includes surprise solo performances to keep audiences guessing.
“We’ve been rehearsing since February and can’t wait to share these songs with the community,” said choir secretary Kathie Buswell.
“Our audiences are sure to be wowed by the rich harmonies and warm spirit of the group.”
Each concert begins at 2.30pm, with a complimentary afternoon tea to follow. Tickets are $25 and available online via TryBooking.
The Mapleton Choir has been part of the hinterland’s musical life for more than 40 years and continues to go from strength to strength under the baton of conductor Brian Martin, who joined as musical director at the start of last year.
“Brian has brought so much energy and joy to the choir,” said Ms Buswell.
“He’s really helped us grow in confidence and connection, and that shines through in every performance.”
The choir will also share their music with residents of Nambour’s Sanctuary Park Retirement Village and Maleny’s Erowal Aged Care Facility, in preparation and as part of their broader community engagement. The group hopes to pack out Kureelpa Hall on both afternoons, helping keep the choir strong for many more years to come.
