Childcare centre proposed next to shopping centre
The 5221sqm centre would sit on the northern section of a 12,140sqm block directly west of the Yandina Shopping Centre.
A 112-place childcare centre has been proposed beside the expanding Yandina Shopping Centre, offering new early learning options for local families.
The plans, lodged with Sunshine Coast Council by Griffco Holdings Pty Ltd, detail a modern single-storey facility at 3-7 Old Gympie Road with space for 112 children and 19 staff. The design includes seven activity rooms, four outdoor play areas and a small two-storey section.
A development report by Project Urban said the project would “provide a modern, purpose-built facility for early learning and care in Yandina, delivering a high-quality educational environment for local families.”
The 5221sqm centre would sit on the northern section of a 12,140sqm block directly west of the Yandina Shopping Centre. The site was previously used as a salvage yard but is now vacant.
Parking for 30 vehicles is proposed, including 19 staff spaces, though planning documents note this is slightly below the 35 spaces required under the planning scheme.
A new driveway onto Old Gympie Road would provide access for both the childcare centre and the approved shopping centre expansion.
The project is code assessable and follows earlier council approval in 2024 for a smaller 98-place centre on the same site.
