Christmas in July comes to Secrets on the Lake

Christmas in July has become a popular tradition in the hinterland and it coincides with the change of seasonal menu at Secrets on the Lake.

“Traditionally every year in July, chef changes our menu slightly to include some delicious Christmas choices,” said venue owner, Aldy Johnston.

“For over ten years, we have made Christmas in July a festive occasion and our kitchen swings into action. Our team prepares some traditional turkey and ham dishes, and the freezer is stocked with everyone’s favourite Christmas desserts.”

The staff at Secrets go all out to make Christmas in July fun, warm and memorable for guests, with Christmas decorations, and tables decorated with holly and tinsel.

“We want our guests to be comfortable and warm and they can stay cosy with our heaters and soft knee rugs,” Aldy said.

“Guests come back year after year to enjoy real Christmas weather, knowing to rug up in their winter woolies. It is a wonderful opportunity to gather with loved ones without the busyness of December celebrations.”

Another winter warming favourite, mulled wine, is served not only in July but across the cold months.

“The fire in reception is stoked, the heaters are turned up on the outdoor deck, and the indoor gallery area is also warmed,” she said.

Groups can make their menu choices and families and friends book their tables in order to celebrate together.

The fabulous views of Lake Baroon, are just another reason to drive along Western Avenue and down Narrows Road to this hidden gem of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, and as an added bonus, guests can request a tour of the timeless world class treehouses that George and Aldy have created.

“George will escort you along carved boardwalks hidden in the rainforest and depending on availability, you can see first hand why guests return year after year,” Aldy said.

“We welcome everyone, from couples to groups, so make a booking as far ahead as possible to avoid disappointment.

“It is one of our favourite times of the year at Secrets, and we know that the people who return each year to celebrate with their family and friends, feel the same way.”
