Health Feature: Coronation House Dentist enters a new era of care

“We understand that going to the dentist can be stressful,” Dr McDonald said. “That’s why we focus on clear communication, gentle care and a strong patient-provider relationship.”

A complete internal refurbishment, upgraded equipment and a renewed focus on comprehensive, compassionate care are just some of the changes revitalising Coronation House Dental under new owner Dr Francois McDonald.

Dr McDonald took over the long-standing Nambour practice in August 2024 and has since invested heavily in transforming the heritage-listed building into a modern, fully equipped dental clinic tailored to the needs of today’s patients. “We’ve honoured the legacy of the practice while updating the clinical spaces to deliver an experience that’s both advanced and welcoming,” Dr McDonald said.

The Currie Street building is undergoing a staged transformation, allowing the practice to continue serving patients while work is completed. With the first stage now finalised, every treatment — from routine check-ups to complex procedures — can be done in comfortable new surrounds.

“We’re fully equipped with cutting-edge imaging, modern dental chairs, upgraded sterilisation systems and an in-house digital lab,” he said. “That means greater comfort, more accurate diagnostics, and shorter turnaround times for patients.”

The practice offers general dentistry, cosmetic procedures, implant dentistry and preventative care for the whole family. With four dentists and six support staff, patients receive tailored attention in a relaxed and respectful environment.

“We understand that going to the dentist can be stressful,” Dr McDonald said. “That’s why we focus on clear communication, gentle care and a strong patient-provider relationship.”

Having previously operated a successful practice in Gympie, Dr McDonald said joining the Nambour business community had been a rewarding next step.

“My family and I have lived on the Coast for years, so it’s wonderful to now work closer to home,” he said. “Being part of the Nambour Chamber of Commerce has already opened up great conversations with other local business owners.”

Dr McDonald is especially passionate about implant dentistry and has completed post-graduate training in the field.

“Helping someone regain confidence through implants is something I never tire of,” he said. “It’s not just about function — it’s about self-worth. That transformation stays with you.”

Complete family dentistry, all under one roof

Whether it’s a toddler’s first check-up or a complex full-mouth restoration, Coronation House Dental provides trusted care at every stage of life.

The newly refurbished practice offers a full suite of dental services, including general and preventative dentistry, cosmetic treatments, implants, and emergency care.

Every service is provided onsite, in a calm and comfortable environment.

“Our focus is on long-term oral health,” said owner Dr Francois McDonald. “We don’t just fix problems — we help prevent them from developing in the first place.”

Cutting edge technology

Hygiene appointments, fillings, crowns, veneers, dentures, teeth whitening and root canals are all part of the daily work at the practice. Cutting-edge digital imaging and intra-oral scanners help deliver fast, precise diagnoses, while a gentle and unhurried approach ensures even nervous patients feel at ease.

The team also offers custom mouthguards and splints, and works with patients to develop realistic home care plans.

“Your mouth is a gateway to your overall health,” Dr McDonald said. “Our job is to help people understand and maintain that connection.”
