Jazz star brings exclusive show to Nambour

Jazz pianist and composer Dan Costa will perform an exclusive Queensland show at The Presynct in Nambour.

Internationally acclaimed jazz pianist and composer Dan Costa will bring his distinctive blend of jazz, Brazilian and world music to Nambour next month for an exclusive Queensland performance.

Costa will appear at The Jazz Sessions at The Presynct on Sunday, October 18, from 3.30pm to 6pm, giving Sunshine Coast audiences a rare opportunity to see the international performer in an intimate setting.

The pianist and composer has performed across six continents and collaborated with an impressive list of musicians including Randy Brecker, Ron Carter, John Patitucci, Mike Stern, Hermeto Pascoal, Dave Liebman, Ivan Lins and Dave Douglas.

His music combines modern jazz with Brazilian and world music influences, reflecting both his mixed cultural background and his connection to the natural environment.

Costa’s work has been featured by international media including Rolling Stone Magazine, Sky and the BBC, while he has also received silver and gold medals at the Global Music Awards. “This is an incredibly special event for the Sunshine Coast,” organiser Robyn Brown said. “To host an artist of Dan Costa’s international standing for a one-only Queensland performance is a rare cultural opportunity. Audiences can expect an intimate, world-class concert experience usually reserved for major international jazz festivals and metropolitan concert venues.”

Costa’s musical education has taken him through Monaco, Liverpool, Portugal and Brazil, as well as Berklee College of Music.

His recording career includes the albums Suite Três Rios, Skyness and Beams. He is also an educator and academic and is currently undertaking PhD studies at LMU Munich in Germany.

The Jazz Sessions featuring Dan Costa will be held upstairs at The Presynct, 15 Ann Street, Nambour, on Sunday, October 18, from 3.30pm to 6pm.
