Do you love watching ballroom dancing on television? This month, you can experience it live without leaving the Sunshine Coast.
The Jively Events Fire Up & Golden Rose DanceSport Open 2026 is coming to Venue 114, Bokarina, on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 August, bringing together some of Australia’s best dancers alongside international competitors and officials for one of the biggest DanceSport events ever held on the Sunshine Coast.
One of the local stars you’ll be able to cheer on is Molly Pascoe.
Earlier this year, Molly travelled to Blackpool, England, to compete at the prestigious WDSF Blackpool DanceSport Festival, one of the world’s most recognized DanceSport events. This month, however, she will be competing much closer to home.
“Travelling to the other side of the world to compete was an incredible experience, but there’s something really special about dancing in front of your local community,” Molly said. “I’ll be competing just down the road this time, and it would mean so much to see lots of local faces there cheering me on.”
This year’s event is particularly significant, with athletes and officials travelling from across Australia and overseas, including Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, the Philippines and the United Kingdom, to compete on the Sunshine Coast.
The competition also marks a major milestone for Australian DanceSport, featuring the first WDSF Open Solo Latin Female events ever held in Australia and Oceania. These events award official World DanceSport Federation ranking points, placing the Sunshine Coast firmly on the international DanceSport calendar.
Luke Brown, General Secretary of DanceSport Australia, said the event is an exciting opportunity for the local community to experience world-class sport firsthand.

Welcoming international athletes, adjudicators and officials to our region is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our community and talent on the world stage. DanceSport is experiencing enormous growth internationally, and it’s exciting to see the Sunshine Coast playing such an important role in that journey.”
The event will feature competitors from 5 years of age through to dancers in their 80s, showcasing International Standard and Latin dancing across two action-packed days of competition.
