Secrets on the Lake fundraiser offers great prizes in aid of Nambour charities

Secrets on the Lake will spend the next four months giving back to the community that supports it, launching a fundraising drive for two local charities providing help to hinterland families in need.

The Montville rainforest retreat’s Helping Hands Fundraiser will raise money for The Shack Community Centre in Nambour and the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre.

Owners George and Aldy Johnston said both volunteer-run organisations provided practical support, kindness and hope to people in need. “At Secrets on the Lake, we believe that looking after our community is just as important as looking after our guests,” they said.

Helping Hands raffle tickets will be sold for $5 each from August until November and can be purchased from the retreat’s reception or by phoning 5478 5888.

The raffle will be drawn during a fundraising morning tea at Secrets’ Dining on the Deck restaurant from 9am on Thursday, November 12.

The first prize, valued at $1270, is a two-night midweek stay for two people in a luxury treehouse, including breakfast.

Second prize is a one-night midweek treehouse stay for two with breakfast, valued at $635, while third and fourth prizes are $100 Dining on the Deck restaurant vouchers.

Morning tea guests will also have the chance to win lucky door prizes including accommodation, wine and two Classic High Teas. Tickets for the morning tea are $35 per person, with money going towards the nominated charities.

The fundraiser coincides with the launch of Secrets on the Lake’s new restaurant menu, which George and Aldy said placed a greater focus on produce from Sunshine Coast growers, farmers, bakeries and other family businesses.

“Choosing local is about more than simply buying close to home,” they said.

“It’s about investing in our community, supporting local families, celebrating exceptional craftsmanship and ensuring the freshest seasonal produce finds its way to your table.”
