Business Feature: Fair Go Insurance Research
We all know we need to have house and car insurance , but figuring out the best level of cover to suit your needs from the sea of providers can be daunting and confusing.
Fair Go Insurance Research was founded by Lindsey Standel to help people ‘compare apples to apples’ and fully understand the product they might purchase.
“Every year at renewal time, your policy provider lets you know they are increasing their price to continue with them. They tempt you to renew without looking elsewhere,” she said.
“Because every company offers different coverage with different stipulations, it is nearly impossible to feel confident that you are making a good choice for your family.”
With a background in financial services, Lindsey put her analytical skills to work on her own insurances and was surprised by the complexity of the exercise of going through the various insurer’s Product Disclosure Statements (PDS).
“I created the first comparison chart when my home insurance went up $431 at renewal time and I hadn’t claimed,” she said.
“Before that, I had no idea what I was actually buying. I ended up saving myself $703. The bigger win for me was feeling like I made an educated decision.”
Fair Go Insurance Research is not a brokerage firm or like most comparison websites - they do not receive commissions from insurers, and Lindsey can not recommend products to her clients.
“We are an independent comparison service which offers depth of detail alongside quotes for each product, and we show results from all major underwriters. We undertake this research on a flat fee basis and our clients can then make their own decisions with regard to their needs.
“Our goal is to make it easier for consumers to compare apples to apples when looking into home and car insurance,” Lindsey explained.
“We know what it’s like to compare your everyday bills to try to save a bit of money, but also feel like you’re getting the best value and coverage for what you need.
“We can save you time and effort with our home and car insurance comparison charts where you can easily compare quotes and policy inclusions from major underwriters all in one place. I have recently saved a client over $12,000 after her premium went up by $4,880.10, which is about 25%. She was paying $14,640.66 and her renewal notice was $19,520.76. Results came back with quotes from 10 companies from $7,270 - $13,375. She couldn’t believe it.
“Everyone deserves the peace of mind that comes with knowing what you are actually paying for.”
