Halcyon outlines over-50s lifestyle vision for Yandina

A strong turnout at Business Yandina's general meeting on Tuesday 10 June heard from Stockland Halcyon about their plans to establish an over-50s lifestyle community in Steggalls Road, Yandina.

Donna Osborne and her team gave an informative presentation outlining Halcyon’s 24-year history, its partnership with Stockland, and its focus on building connected communities that contribute to local life.

The new development—Halcyon’s eighth on the Sunshine Coast—is expected to open its sales office in Farrell Street in July, with display homes viewable mid-July and first residents moving in by mid-2026.

Following the presentation, members posed several practical questions about the project.

Here is a summary of the Q&A session.

Q: Is there a minimum age to buy into a village?
A: Yes, over 50s only. Owners must occupy; no rentals.
Q: Which area will be built first?
A: The front blocks beside the arrival precinct.
Q: Will new residents receive local business info?
A: Not currently, but Halcyon is open to distributing a pack if provided.
Q: What does the ‘buy in’ price include?
A: All fittings, floor coverings and landscaping. Excludes blinds, furniture, fridge, washer/dryer.
Q: Are local suppliers used in construction?
A: Where possible—though national contractors are in place.
Q: Can under-50s inherit a home?
A: Yes, but they can't live there. They can sell it with no exit fees.
Q: Will caravan and boat storage be offered?
A: Yes, at a weekly fee.
Q: Are pets allowed?
A: Yes, subject to council restrictions.
Q: Will homes have solar or rain tanks?
A: Yes to solar. No to tanks, due to runoff constraints.
Q: Can a friend stay and care for a pet while I’m away?
A: No—only owners may occupy the home, even short term.

The presentation was warmly received, and members thanked the Halcyon team for sponsoring supper. The meeting closed at 7.45pm.
