Second stage of Stockland’s Halcyon Yandina retirement facility proposes 270 dwellings
A proposed second stage of Stockland’s Halcyon Yandina retirement facility would add another 270 dwellings to a growing pocket of the hinterland town.
Public notification has opened for the development, proposed for 96 Cooloolabin Road, 14 Browns Creek Road and Brandons Road, Yandina.
The application seeks approval for a retirement facility of 270 dwellings, as well as preliminary approval for operational work involving waterway barrier works.
It follows the approval of 250 dwellings in the first stage, meaning the broader Halcyon Yandina project would ultimately include more than 500 homes if the latest application is approved.
The development application is listed as MCU25/0323 and OPW25/0517.
According to public notification material displayed at the property, the proposed development would have a maximum building height of 8.5m and site coverage of 45 per cent.
Yandina & District Community Association (YADCA), has alerted members and supporters to the public notification period and encouraged residents to have their say before submissions close on May 27.
YADCA said the application was impact assessable because the land was zoned low density residential, and said the proposed development did not comply with that zoning.
The volunteer community group works with residents, community groups and local government to promote Yandina and keep locals informed about issues affecting the town.
The latest proposal comes as Yandina continues to attract residential growth and development interest.
YADCA also advised members that QM Properties is now marketing house and land packages at “Yandina Valley” on Wappa Falls Road.
The association will continue discussing planning and growth issues at a series of upcoming community forums.
On June 8, guest speaker Grantley Switzer will speak about planning for the 2032 Olympics and how Yandina may benefit.
A July 13 forum will focus on local issues with government representatives, while Sunshine Coast Regional Council strategic planning representative Steve Patey is scheduled to speak on August 10, with a focus on planning decisions affecting Yandina.
YADCA’s annual general meeting will be held on September 14.
Submissions on the Halcyon Yandina proposal can be made to Sunshine Coast Council during the public notification period from May 6 to May 27.
