Inspired Vision for the Future at Lucas Parklands
For Ian Lucas, the Young Musicians Festival that Lucas Parklands will launch on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland this month, gives the opportunity to host a quality event specifically for upcoming classical music students to experience what Ian aspired to as a young musician. As a classically trained pianist, growing up in Hobart, his experience at the age of 18 when he completed his studies in music, was that there was no stepping point ahead. He gave it away, and got ‘a real job’ in aviation.Ian believes that for many budding young musicians, there is a shortfall between their training and the ability to seeing a clear pathway to where they can translate theirmusical prowess into a future career. He and his wife Lee hope that by kicking off theweekend festival at their Lucas Parklands property on Narrows Road in Montville, they can assist to bridge the gap for emerging artists. Their vision is for the YoungMusicians Festival to provide a platform for other young musicians to continue honingtheir craft, and to show them the steps to do so.Another inspiration for the festival is to support their twins, Sam and Meg who haveboth followed in their father’s footsteps, studying classical music. They are both flying in from New Zealand where they are currently studying music as well as business and law.Ian feels passionate about the opportunity to give his children and others the experience of performing professionally on the Sunshine Coast. Lucas Parklands is fast becoming theSunshine Coast premier classical music destination with its secluded venue for special events, concerts, classical music performances and jazz concerts. The Young Musicians Festival will be held on the weekend of Friday 27th, ‘Inspirations’ performance, Saturday 28th and closing on Sunday 29th with a finale concert ‘Ambitions’. All performances are open to the public to attend any or all, with an opportunity to enjoy the high calibre of young classical musicians Ian has invited from across the country. For more information, tickets and bookings, visit www.lucasparklands.com or Ph: 5478 5667.By Natalie Brown
