Puppets take centre stage at Maleny Showgrounds this October

The Village Puppet Festival, a biennial event organized by Catherine O’Neill of Little Big World Puppet Theatre will be held on October 24 and 25 at The Playhouse, Maleny Showgrounds.
“This Sky, Sea and Land themed Puppet Festival is one of only two puppet festivals in Australia,” said Catherine.
“Eight local puppet companies will be offering a superb variety of shows for everyone aged 1 to 100.
“There will be hand, shadow, and tabletop puppets, with larger structures of birds, animals and marionettes roving the grounds between shows.
“It will be a fun and rare opportunity to see skilled puppeteers showcasing their talents and the fascinating art that is puppetry.”
Workshops in circus skills and puppet making will also take place during the festival, with pop up performances on the verandah all accompanied by fabulous buskers including The Oak Sprite with his dancing marionette.
“Each day there will be a puppet parade from 3.30, and we would love to see you there. It really is a wonderful atmosphere and experience for people of all ages.”
