Montville Wellness Expo: Health, Happiness and Nature this October

Montville will come alive with health, happiness and nature on Saturday 3 October, when the inaugural Montville Wellness Expo brings together wellness practitioners, inspiring speakers, creative workshops, music, natural therapies and healthy living experiences in the heart of the village.

Designed as a family-friendly celebration with something for everyone, the Montville Wellness Expo will combine healthy lifestyle choices, natural medicine and natural living in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Think natural medicine meets wellness—with a distinctly Montville flavour.

From 9.30am to 3.30pm, visitors will be able to explore a diverse collection of health and lifestyle exhibitors, enjoy presentations from knowledgeable speakers, participate in workshops and discover new ways to support their health and wellbeing.

Importantly, entry to the Expo, exhibitor halls and speaker presentations is free.

Sharing local knowledge

One of the key ideas behind the Expo is simple: to bring people together and share practical knowledge that an make a difference in everyday life.

knowledge that can make a difference in everyday life.

Rather than focusing on the latest piece of technology or something new to buy, presentations will give visitors access to subject-matter experts sharing ideas and practices they can consider independently incorporating into their own lives at no cost.

In some ways, it will be like a mini TED Talk festival dedicated to health and wellbeing.

The Expo will showcase qualified natural medicine practitioners, nutrition specialists, natural products, holistic healing and bodywork therapists, wellness retreats, accommodation providers, wellness centres and spas, intuitive guidance, self-development and self-care practices.

It is also an opportunity to celebrate the many talented practitioners, businesses and individuals who call the Sunshine Coast Hinterland home.

Cyndi O’Meara is the headline Speaker at the Expo

A highlight of the program will be keynote speaker Cyndi O’Meara, nutritionist, filmmaker and bestselling author, who will speak about nutrition and seasonal eating: Eat Local, Live Well: How Seasonal Food Builds Healthier, Wealthier Communities.

The speaker program begins early in St Mary’s Hall after the Welcome to Country at 10:40 by Jinibara elder, Zeitha Jalamala. Hinterland Health Retreat will present a Wellness Panel Discussion ‘Mental Health in a Modern Age: Why a truly integrative approach is essential’ at 10.45am, bringing together different perspectives on health and wellbeing.

Throughout the day, visitors can also explore free presentations and workshops, including sessions exploring mindfulness, self-care, Qi Gong, natural soap making and other aspects of living well.

A glass didgeridoo in a Montville church?

One of the most unusual experiences of the day will take place inside St Mary’s Church.

With its beautiful setting and exceptional acoustics, the church will host three sound bath therapy sessions with Rufus from Earth Song Healing.

The live performances will feature a very special instrument—a one-of-a-kind glass didgeridoo, created by much-loved local glass artist Tina Cooper.

The combination of sound therapy, live performance, the glass didgeridoo and the acoustics of the historic church promises to make this a memorable Montville experience. The Sound Baths experience will be offered at a special expo price of $10.

Visitors can also try basket weaving on the Village Green, explore mindfulness through a creative art journaling workshop, or join Word Minx for Breath Words, a playful creative-writing experience combining words, breath and her love of typewriters.

Wellness you can experience

The Expo isn't just about listening and learning—it is also an opportunity to experience different wellness modalities firsthand.

Local wellbeing practitioners Aran and Sheree from Montville Massage and Myotherapy will offer neck and shoulder chair massages as an Expo special.

They will also present a free mindfulness, self-care and yoga workshop on the Montville Village Green, giving visitors another opportunity to participate rather than simply observe.

With food, music, exhibitors, talks, workshops and wellness experiences spread across Montville Village Halls, St Mary’s precinct, The Edge Event Centre and the Montville Village Green, visitors can wander through the historic village and create their own special day at the Expo.

Make a weekend of it

The timing couldn't be better for visitors to turn the Expo into a Sunshine Coast Hinterland escape.

With the event falling on the long weekend, visitors are encouraged to stay a little longer and experience everything Montville and the surrounding Hinterland have to offer.

Montville, nestled in the heart of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and surrounded by natural beauty, is the perfect backdrop for health and wellbeing, a place where nature, community and wellness intermingle. The Expo also provides an opportunity to shine a light on the growing number of outstanding wellness-based businesses and professionals operating throughout the region. You will find the list of businesses on the map insert.

It is part of a broader vision to position Montville and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland as a natural home of health and wellbeing—a place where nature, community and wellness naturally come together.
