Venue hosts one-off concert celebrating women in music

Lucas Parklands will present a special afternoon concert on Saturday July 12, honouring women who have achieved international acclaim in music.

The 2pm performance will feature celebrated New Zealand violinist Amalia Hall in her only Australian appearance, joined on stage by acclaimed South African pianist Berta Brozgul. Event host Ian Lucas said the concert was a tribute to “high-achieving ladies” and reflects the Parklands’ ongoing commitment to curating rare and exceptional performances in the hinterland. “This typifies the thought and energy Lucas Parklands invests in being a unique provider of fine music,” Mr Lucas said.

Adding to the atmosphere, local jazz singer Imogen Grace will perform on the deck.

The afternoons program will highlight music written by the “Great Ladies” of the romantic era, including Clara Schumann’s, 3 Romances, Lili Boulanger’s Nocturne, and  Cesar Franck’s famous violin sonata which the composer gifted his wife on their wedding day. This, plus, Ravel’s virtuosic showpiece Tzigane, Lucas Parklands, Montville, is known for its intimate performances set in a natural rainforest amphitheatre, and has hosted a string of world-class musicians over the years.

Bookings are essential. Call Ian Lucas on 0409 623 228.
