Piano maestro Piers Lane to perform with rising Australian star
Australia’s most famous classical music export, piano maestro Piers Lane AO, will team up with rising star, Melbourne-based Ruby Luck, for a rare performance at Montville’s Lucas Parklands on July 2.
The mix of world-famous maestro and young award-winning pianist will be a highlight of a wonderful program of world-class classical concerts over coming months – and is sure to attract lots of interest from local classical music lovers.
Maestro Lane has performed in more than 40 countries, developing a world-wide reputation as an engaging and highly-versatile performer, equally comfortable in solo, chamber and concerto repertoire.
He will partner with Luck, who has studied at the Queensland Conservatorium, performing as a chamber musician, soloist, with Australian and international instrumentalists and vocalists, and in trios, quartets and quintet ensembles – receiving many prizes and awards through her developing career. Today, she studies advanced piano performance at the Australian National Academy of Music
“Both these artists are unique, have been making their individual marks on the classical music world, are so very different but have a shared love for the piano - to have them perform here together will be something very special,” said host Ian Lucas.
“I’m very curious and excited to see how these two very special performers impress us together.
“It’s also a very lovely opportunity for Ruby, who has a personal connection to the Hinterland, with her parents residing not far away in Maleny, so the performance will include that special element as well.”
At the July 2 performance, Mr Lane will perform the Toccata in C minor, BWV 911, composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, along with Preludes by Frédéric Chopin.
Mr Lane and Ms Luck will together perform the rarely-played Johann Nepomuk Hummel arrangement of Mozart Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor.
The duo are the latest performers scheduled to appear at Lucas Parklands this year, including:
· Rising stars Reuben Tsang, who performed as a youngster for King Charles, along with Madeleine Xiao, of New Zealand, will perform a night of concertos on Sunday, August 23.
· Melbourne-based Berta Brozgul will perform with Sydney-based Eugenie Tamplon on Saturday, October 3, at 3pm
· Mr Piers Lane will return to Lucas Parklands to team up with Berta Brozgul and friends for unique performances on Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4.
“Local classical music lovers will relish all these performances, as a chance to get up close with some of the star pianists of all ages, at our local private auditorium,” Mr Lucas said.
“It is a real treat to experience these wonderful professional musicians, respected across Australia and internationally, without the inconveniences and costs that come with travelling away to Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.”
