Maleny Music Festival 2025: A fun-filled weekend for kids at THE HUB

The countdown is on with three weeks until the highly anticipated 12th annual Maleny Music Festival this November. This year’s event promises to be an unforgettable experience for the whole family, especially the little ones. With a dedicated children’s area called THE HUB, kids can enjoy three full days of music, creativity, and hands-on activities, all while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of this much-loved festival. Plus, entry is free for children under 12.

THE HUB is packed with a wide range of activities designed to keep the youngest festivalgoers entertained, engaged, and inspired throughout the weekend. From interactive performances and storytelling to games, arts and crafts, and even lantern-making, there’s something for every child to enjoy.

Festival Director Rachel Clarke said she’s excited about the family-friendly focus of this year’s event.

“The Maleny Music Festival is the perfect size for children, small enough to easily explore, but full of exciting variety and music. It’s a community-focused event where families can enjoy music and activities together, and parents can relax knowing their kids are having fun in a safe, welcoming environment.”

In THE HUB, families will be treated to a fantastic lineup of performers, including Frank & Meryn of The Pretzel Poem Project, Niq Reefman, and Hoozatt?

Niq Reefman, the “sonic wizard,” will delight young minds with his unique trio and vibrant musical tales. Known for his eclectic mix of synth accordion and emotive trumpet, Niq’s performance will inspire curiosity and creativity in listeners of all ages.

Frank & Meryn will bring their magic to the festival with an engaging, interactive concert for children. Their performance combines storytelling, sing-alongs, and rhythm games, featuring songs from their latest album that capture the wonder of everyday moments. Children will even get to hear a reading of Meryn’s book A Pony Named Taffy, blending music and imagination perfectly.

Also returning this year is Hoozatt?, a festival favourite known for their onstage (and offstage!) shenanigans. They’ll bring laughter and fun to THE HUB with games, and lively interactive shows that will have kids, parents, and grandparents joining in. Their Sunday afternoon activities include tug-of-war, egg-and-spoon races, and other silly games.

Kids in Action will take the stage on Sunday, featuring schoolchildren from across the region performing an original song about the environment. This initiative is part of Sunshine Coast Council’s award-winning environmental education program, Kids in Action.

The Friday Night Youth Showcase will spotlight emerging talent, with every performer under 18 (including the host). The lineup includes Beerwah High School Stage Band, Fin Zerner, Grace Alexander, Gus Joyce, Henry Catania, Jamayah, Maleny High School, Rudi Dulake, and Phoebe Rose.

With free entry for kids under 12 and half-price tickets for teens, the Maleny Music Festival offers outstanding value for families. Alongside the children’s activities, there’ll be live music, delicious food, market stalls, and more ensuring a great time for everyone.

The Maleny Music Festival runs from 7–9 November 2025 at the Maleny Showgrounds, nestled in the picturesque Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy three days of family fun, music, and creativity.
