A special gathering today (October 23) celebrated six long-serving members of the Maleny Show Society, each recognised for their decades of dedication and contribution to the town’s much-loved agricultural show.
Show Patron Andrew Powell hosted the intimate ceremony at his office, presenting Honorary Life Member awards to Helen Gilmour-Walsh, Paul Gilmour-Walsh, Kerry Wild, Linda Fawkes, Lynda Burgess and David Lowden. All were present except Mr Lowden, who was unable to attend.
Each recipient reflected warmly on their many years of involvement with the show, sharing fond memories of how they first volunteered, the people who inspired them, and the friendships formed through the event. Their commitment has helped shape and sustain the Maleny Show’s reputation as one of the region’s most cherished community traditions.
In other news the Maleny Show Society recently held its AGM with the Executive and Management Committees re-elected to continue preparations for the 2026 Maleny Agricultural Show. Executive members are: President Lynda Burgess; Vice Presidents Fiona Wild and David Lowden; Treasurer Monica Skerman; Secretary Lois White.
