Love takes centre stage at Maleny Show 2025

Visitors to this year’s Maleny Show are in for a heartwarming first: a real wedding on the main stage.

At 10.30am on Saturday May 31, local couple Matt O'Connor and Meg Foley will tie the knot centre stage on the main arena—marking the first time in the Show’s 102-year history that a wedding has taken place at the event.

The pair won the Show Society’s Free Wedding Competition earlier this year and will say “I do” in front of family, friends, and delighted Show-goers as part of what organisers are calling the Wedding of the Year.

Maleny Show Society President Lynda Burgess said this special addition set the tone for a weekend of joy and connection.

“This year’s theme is all about community, fun, and unforgettable experiences—and what better way to celebrate than by sharing in Meg and Matt’s love story,” she said.

“So we request the pleasure of everyone’s company to witness a very special event – our Show Stopping Wedding of the year.

“Maleny is one of Queenslands’ top wedding destinations, and the Show Society decided to showcase this aspect of our beautiful area.

“After they are married the happy couple will spend the day at the show, taking in the sights and sounds of all things unique and wonderful.”

Run entirely by volunteers, Lynda said preparations for the 2025 Show were in full swing ready to welcome locals and visitors on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st May.
