Nicklin MP gets lesson in student-led learning
Nicklin MP Marty Hunt has been welcomed to OneSchool Global (OSG) Nambour, meeting with students, graduates and teachers to learn about OSG’s innovative approach to student directed learning.
Mr Hunt MP said he welcomed the opportunity to tour the campus and talk to students about their experiences.
“I thank OneSchool Global for inviting me to its Nambour campus, and for demonstrating how OSG empowers its students to take the lead in their education, and embracing technology-led learning,” said Mr Hunt.
“I was pleased to receive a letter earlier this year informing me that Tiarni Parsons, a student from the Nambour campus, had been named OSG’s State Dux for Queensland in 2025. It was a delight to meet her in person and hear how she is taking her school skills into the workforce.
“I thoroughly enjoyed the campus tour led by the Student Leadership Team who were excellent and articulate representatives for their campus.
“Another highlight was meeting the OSG primary students who have been learning about government in a recent unit of work, and I thank Sybelle, Ivy and Clarice for their thoughtful questions and interest in my role and the workings of parliament.
“I congratulate OSG on the work it is doing to ensure its students become lifelong learners, well-prepared for a life beyond school.”
OneSchool Global’s ‘Learning to Learn Framework’ is a self-directed learning philosophy, based on international research and best practice, that enables students to take ownership of their learning.
OSG Nambour Principal Michael Knight said it was an honour to welcome Mr Hunt MP to the school and thanked him for speaking with students, graduates and teachers. “It is a great opportunity for our students to learn about governmental structures and processes by meeting local representatives,” said Mr Knight. “We really believe in our Learning to Learn framework which supports our students to deliver excellent results, and we appreciate that Mr Hunt has taken the time to tour the campus to see it in action.”
