Woombye State School students were all smiles last Thursday as they lined up to try the first batch of popcorn from their brand new popcorn machine - a donation from State Member for Nicklin, Marty Hunt.

The machine was put to good use during the school’s annual sports day and is set to become a regular feature at discos, fundraising events and future school celebrations.

The idea came from the school’s Parents and Citizens Association about ways to support community events like Woombye Happy Days Festival and help raise funds at the school in a fun, practical way.

“It’s a small gesture, but one that I hope makes a big difference for the school,” Mr Hunt said.

“It’s something the kids can enjoy and the school can use again and again.”

Principal Paul Lowik welcomed the donation and said it would be a valuable addition for a range of school events.

“We’re always looking for ways to make our school activities more engaging and fun for students and families,” he said.

“This will definitely help with that and with future fundraising, too.”

With a calendar full of events ahead, the school is looking forward to firing up the machine again soon.
