Monster truck roars back to Maleny Show

Outback Thunda Monster Truck will return to the Maleny Showgrounds for the first time in years as part of a packed entertainment program for the 2026 Maleny Agricultural Show on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30.

After travelling and performing across Australia, Outback Thunda will make a local show appearance, with monster truck demonstrations expected to be among the headline attractions across the two-day program.

The annual show will again bring together agricultural competition, arena entertainment, pavilion displays and family activities, celebrating the region’s country traditions and community spirit.

Livestock competitions will include dairy and beef cattle, poultry and horse events, while showjumping will run across both days. The program also includes junior judges, grand parades, fancy dress beef cattle and the popular woodchop competition on Saturday.

Inside the pavilion, entries will showcase local skills in baking, produce, craft and creative displays, with fashion parades also included in the program.

Alongside the monster truck action, arena entertainment will feature freestyle motorcycle trials shows and Cowgirls With Wings. Country Stars will provide live music and emerging talent across both days, while school performances, dance and acro displays, and pipes and drums on Friday will add to the program.

Families will be able to take part in more than 26 free activities included with show entry, including circus skills workshops, whipcracking, cowboy hat making, book readings, bubble play spaces and free train rides around the grounds.

Animal attractions will include the animal nursery, Wildlife Unleashed reptile shows and miniature goats, offering young visitors the chance to get closer to some of the show’s furry and scaled stars.

Food demonstrations and local flavours will also be part of the weekend, while Side Show Alley, showbags and trade exhibits will provide the traditional show experience.

The Main Ring will come alive after dark with evening entertainment and fireworks displays by KC’s Fireworks Displays on both nights.

The Maleny Show Society said the 2026 event would be a celebration of community and tradition, bringing together “the best of country life, community spirit and entertainment across two action-packed days”.

Gates open from 8am daily, with a free shuttle bus operating from Maleny Historical Village to the Maleny Showgrounds.
