Cyndi O’Meara to headline Montville Wellness Expo
Montville will turn its historic village centre into a hub for healthier living next month when the inaugural Montville Wellness Expo brings together practitioners, workshops, natural products and expert speakers from across the Sunshine Coast.
Organised by the Montville Chamber of Commerce, the expo will be held on Saturday, October 3, from 9.30am to 3.30pm across local venues including the Village Halls, The Edge Event Centre and Montville Village Green.
The event aims to showcase the Hinterland as a natural home for health and wellbeing businesses, drawing on the region’s rainforest setting and growing range of wellness practitioners, retreats and creative enterprises. Well-known Changing Habits author Cyndi O’Meara will be the keynote speaker, presenting Eat Local, Live Well: How Seasonal Food Builds Healthier, Wealthier Communities.
Visitors will also be able to attend free talks, browse natural products, meet local practitioners and experience treatments, alongside a number of ticketed immersive workshop sessions such as Mindful Journaling with Art Workshops, Soap Making with Forest Garden Soaps, Sound Bath with Earth Song Healing and more!
Among those participating will be Coolum Beach linguistic watercolour artist Melinda, who left corporate marketing earlier this year to pursue her creative business, Word Minx.
Combining vintage typewriters, poetry and watercolour, her work draws inspiration from synaesthesia and the relationship between language, sound and colour. “I strip away the black-and-white to reveal the vibrant, swirling soul and sound of language,” she says.
Melinda will present interactive Breath Words sessions at the expo, encouraging participants to explore favourite words in a new and creative way.
The event will also highlight established Hinterland wellness destinations including Secrets on the Lake, nestled in rainforest overlooking Lake Baroon. Its handcrafted treehouses and accommodation offer guests the opportunity to slow down among rainforest and lake views, with private decks, spa baths and canoeing among the attractions. Its award-winning Dining on the Deck restaurant also offers food and coffee in the tranquil lakeside setting.
The Chamber is now taking bookings from niche wellness businesses and professionals interested in exhibiting at the expo, including selected operators from across the Coast.
Organisers hope the event will strengthen Montville and the Hinterland’s reputation as a destination where visitors can relax, reconnect and discover new approaches to wellbeing.
