Mooloolah businesses put their best foot forward
The Beatles may have won hearts around the world with their iconic Abbey Road album but three Mooloolah businesses have won categories in the ’92.7 MIX FM’s Best of the Sunshine Coast’.
Mooloolah IGA won best convenience store, Kennys@Mooloolah won best restaurant and Mooloolah Meats have won the best butchers and all three businesses are enjoying the accolade. It is a great win for the tiny railway town that relies heavily on local support and will boost the 'I give a Moo for Mooloolah' campaign local businesses initiated last year to encourage people to shop locally.Mooloolah Meats owner Dean Hume said winning the '92.7 MIX FM’s Best Butcher on the Sunshine Coast’ has seen a lot of people pop into the shop to congratulate the team, "Lots of new and old faces we haven't seen for a while have been popping in so it has been good for business," Dean said. "The 'I Give a Moo' has put everyone on the same page and we have seen a steady growth, it is good for the town and surrounding communities.Kennys@Mooloolah were voted as the '92.7 MIX FM’s Best Restaurant on the Sunshine Coast’ after being opened only a year ago. A favourite spot in town, the restaurant has seen incredible growth and owners, Kenny Topfer and Nicky Fahey, are in the process of opening a second shop for their popular pizzas. Kenny said they have run out of room, "We don't really have a choice and need more space so we are all set to open another restaurant up the road," Kenny said.Well known local Ken Grant is a familiar and popular face at the Mooloolah IGA so there were no surprises when the store won the '92.7 MIX FM’s Best Convenience Store on the Sunshine Coast’. Ken said the three winners shows how much the Mooloolah community are getting behind the local business, "We sponsor lots of things around the town and people really do appreciate our commitment," Ken said. Mooloolah IGA employ numerous locals and everyone knows everyone so it is always a friendly store. "There are lots of reasons to shop at Mooloolah, it is worth checking out."
