Celebrate everyone’s favourite train this August!
The Sunshine Coast’s beloved ginger train Moreton is turning a youthful 124-years-young and everyone is invited to join the party on Tuesday 26th August at The Ginger Factory, Yandina.
There will be plenty of giveaways* including a free wooden Moreton bag-tag to decorate, plus balloons, stickers and a slice of birthday cake to enjoy.
The Ginger Factory’s Head Train Driver Tanis Fulcher grew up in Kenilworth fascinated by trains as a child and said nowadays he loved driving Moreton around The Ginger Factory’s lush gardens and rainforest.
“I’ve been captivated by trains my whole life, to the point where when I’m not driving Moreton, I’m hopping aboard trains all around Australia and also drive the Mary Valley Rattler steam train,” Mr Fulcher said.
“To see people’s faces light up when they step on board Moreton is truly special, it’s the best part of my day.
“Nothing beats the feeling of riding a historic train.
“We have everyone from children, parents, grandparents, train enthusiasts and railway modellers visit.”
Originally built in Germany in 1901 by Krauss as a steam locomotive for the Moreton Central Sugar Mill, Moreton worked as a sugar cane train for 65 years, hauling cane from the fields to the mill before retiring in 1967. He was later restored and repurposed at The Ginger Factory in 1993.
We also have an exciting competition to become our “Train Inspector of the Day”.
Our lucky winners will become one of FOUR TRAIN INSPECTORS to inspect Moreton before loading passengers and enjoying a FREE RIDE for you and your family in your own private carriage, plus receive a Moreton Train Hamper packed with goodies!
