Family fun and horsepower at Muscle on the Mountain
Muscle on the Mountain will be returning to the Maleny Showgrounds Sunday July 6 in what Maleny Apex Club organisers hope will be their biggest event to date.
“We will have loads of vehicles for motoring enthusiasts to see and we have planned what we hope will be a fantastic day of family-friendly entertainment,” said club spokesman Sam Price.
Rain caused the postponement of last year’s event to September. Despite this, the Apex Club still managed to raise over $14,000.
“We were thrilled at the money we were able to raise last year,” Mr Price said. “It meant that we were able to donate $6000 to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia as well as many other local charities and organisations including the Maleny Pony Club, Maleny Rangers Soccer Club, the Witta Rec Club, the Conondale P&C and Maleny Rotary. We try and make sure we spread the funds raised around Maleny and the hinterland community in the best way we can.”
The show will run from 7am to 1pm and the entry cost is $5 cash per person. Under 12s are free.
“There are no EFT facilities on the gate, but they are available around the showgrounds,” he said. “There will be music, coffee, food, and this year some great entertainment for the kids. We wanted to make this a really fun and wallet friendly event for the whole family.”
There will be the popular awards again this year, including best vehicle in each class, furthest travelled, highest odometer reading and People’s Choice.
“On behalf of Apex Maleny, I want to thank our wonderful sponsors, including Sunshine Coast Council, for supporting us to bring this event to the community,” Mr Price said.
“Without this support, it would not be possible. We have our fingers crossed for fine weather, and can’t wait to see everyone there.”
