Nambour joins forces for all-day festive celebration

Nambour is gearing up for a huge Christmas celebration, with community groups, businesses and event organisers joining forces to stage the Nambour All Day Christmas Festival on Sunday, December 20.

The festival will bring together three popular events including Tramfest, the Nambour Black Market and the Nambour Christmas Shopping Trail – creating a day of markets, shopping, live music, food and entertainment across the entire Nambour town centre.

Nambour Groups chair Rhonda Billett said the collaboration would bring a new dimension to Christmas celebrations in the town. “We are all joining our events this year this year to deliver something very unique,” Rhonda said. “It's one big creative Christmas Sunday session.”

The festivities will begin at 8am with markets extending from the Old Ambulance Station in Howard Street through to Queen Street. In Queen Street  local retailers will participate in the Nambour Christmas Shopping Trail with loads of gift ideas and family activities all the way down Nambour CBD’s favourite one-way street. It will include buskers, a facepainter, fancy cup cakes and more alongside the Queen St business offering everything from food and drinks through to creative arts and fabulous fashion.

From 11am, Tramfest will transform Mill Street into a Food Truck Alley, with live music courtesy of ASV Nambour and a delicious variety of food vendors such as Potato Slinkys, Brazo Boys Beef Brisket, Greek Food Truck, Motha Trucker, Toasty Co and more all operating until 6pm.

Meanwhile, Aaron Borg from Bad Habit's Nambour Black Market is on again at the Old Ambulance Station and Black Box Theatre. It will feature markets from 8am along Howard Street and top bands performing live music from noon, with festivities and live music sessions expected to continue until late.

Rhonda said the aim was to create an event that encouraged people to explore the town and enjoy everything Nambour had to offer in the lead up to Christmas.  “It’s a great chance to also get some last minute Christmas shopping done and support local businesses. It starts early Sunday morning and goes well into the evening, so it’s like Nambour's ultimate Christmas Sunday session,” she said.

The Nambour Chamber of Commerce is also supporting the initiative, with all Nambour Group organisations participating and working together to deliver a coordinated Holiday Season celebration.

Further details of the festival program will be announced closer to the event with bands, Santas arrival time and more.  Follow I am Nambour and Sunshine Valley Gazette on Facebook and via print media for further details.
