Rotary invites locals to help shape Nambour's future

Nambour Rotary is looking for new members who want to make a practical difference in their community, with long-time Rotarian Steve Morrison encouraging locals to help decide where the club's fundraising dollars are spent.

Speaking at the Nambour Chamber of Commerce November 5 Coffee Catch-up, Mr Morrison reflected on more than 20 years of Rotary involvement and the importance of giving back to the town he has called home since 1985.

He said the club raised funds through events and activities, supporting projects ranging from school bursaries and university scholarships to community facilities and environmental initiatives.

Among its contributions have been support for the Hear and Say Foundation and Sundale Rotary Garden Village.

Mr Morrison also highlighted a project involving the planting of almost 5000 trees to provide food for sick and injured koalas.

About 500 volunteers helped with the planting, while Rotary continues to fund maintenance of the trees.

He said new members could bring fresh ideas about where assistance was most needed.

“We'd like to have members come and join us, fun guys and ladies, and show us where you think you could use our funds to make a difference in our community locally and abroad,” he said.

Mr Morrison encouraged anyone interested in community service to consider joining Nambour Rotary.
