Everyday Foundation’s new kitchen will feed more locals in need

Feeding more than a thousand people every week is a mighty task. A $10,000 grant is set to make it easier, funding a commercial kitchen at The Everyday Foundation’s new premises on Currie Street, Nambour.

General Manager Karen Gullo said the kitchen will turn donated produce into meals and reduce waste. “We’ve finally secured our own premises in the heart of Nambour,” Ms Gullo said. “In that (Currie Street) space we’ll be building a commercial kitchen so we can increase our food support offerings and make sure no one on the Coast goes hungry.”

The Everyday Foundation currently serves more than 200 prepared meals weekly on top of its low-cost food support, meeting people “in the place of their need”. The commercial kitchen will multiply that impact, allowing volunteers to process fresh donations quickly and get wholesome meals to families sooner.

Awarded at the Nambour Community Foundation ceremony at Nambour RSL on October 21, the grant combines contributions from Ray White Nambour and the Foundation.

• The Everyday Foundation received $10,000 towards a commercial kitchen fit-out at its new Currie Street base, at the Nambour Community Foundation Grants Ceremony, Nambour RSL, October 21.

Ray White Nambour Selling Principal Matt O'Grady enjoys supporting the Foundation as the money donated goes directly to people who need it rather than administration.
