Students go Live & Local at Sunday Rummagers Market
Nambour’s Sunday Rummagers Market came alive with local sounds and school spirit on July 20 as students took to the CBD stage as part of the new Live and Local program.
The 2025 initiative showcases school musicians performing live in the heart of town, supported by Nambour Tram Co, I Am Nambour, the Chamber of Commerce and Sunshine Coast Council. With performers studying Certificate III in Music, the program is already drawing strong community support – and growing anticipation for its Christmas finale at Tram Fest on November 29.
“We have so many schools in the hinterland area and the talent of these students is amazing to see live,” said organiser Rhonda Billett. “The concept incorporates local students from our catchment area, immersed into the CBD with the patrons of the Nambour Sunday morning Rummagers Market supporting and cheering on the students as they perform their pieces.
“The teachers dig deep and do an amazing job supporting the Nambour Live and Local concepts, we couldn’t do it without them.”
The latest school to perform in the Nambour CBD at the most recent Rummager’s market was St John’s College following on from the talented students from Nambour State College in June.
“So many different styles of music, from brass to rock,” said Rhonda.
“It’s so great to see so many students, teachers and parents involved and we are excited with more to come for the remainder of 2025 program.
“An end of year finale of performances from the students will finish up the program for this year. That event will take place at the 2025 Tram Fest Nambour Christmas Street Party, to be held on Saturday November 29th.”
