Museum event marks 80 years since WWII
The Nambour & District Historical Museum will mark 80 years since the end of the Second World War with a special community event on Saturday, August 16.
Running from 10am to 3pm, the day will feature expanded military displays drawn from the museum’s permanent collection and its reserve archives. Visitors will also have the chance to view a display of military vehicles and meet members of the 2/15th Australian Infantry Battalion Re-enactment Group, who will be attending in uniform.
Nambour Museum President Clive Plater said the event was an opportunity to reflect on the region’s wartime history and the sacrifices made by servicemen and women. “It’s a chance for the public to view items not normally on display and to connect with the stories of local people involved in the war effort,” Mr Plater said.
The Nambour Museum is located at 18 Mitchell Street. Admission on the day is free, though donations are welcomed. For further details, phone the museum on 54412119 or Clive on 0408 713 093. Email: nambourmuseum@gmail.com.
Members of the 2/15th Australian Infantry Battalion Re-enactment Group will be on site as part of the commemorative display.
