Playdate success sparks more free fun at Quota Park
Held on Saturday, September 5, the Great Quota Park Playdate was a family and community fun day in Nambour’s Quota Memorial Park.
Nambour Community Centre Social Worker / Community Development Coordinator Peter Hogg said the event saw more than 800 people take part in multiple activities across the day.
Mr Hogg said the community-based collaboration between Nambour Community Centre and the Sunshine Coast Council Community Development team resulted in the reactivation of the beautiful space in the heart of Nambour.
He said feedback from families, community members and participants was hugely positive. “The park was a sea of smiles and laughter all day, with many magic moments and plenty of fun had.”
People attending on the day could participate in activities ranging from an all-day skate clinic, drumming workshops, giant games, jewellery making, lino printing, children’s storytime and art activities to face painting, groove dance, yoga and folk music in the park.
A free sausage sizzle was provided by the team at Nambour and District Lions, while free fruit was available all day thanks to a generous donation from Fruity Life Nambour.
More events coming up
Following on from the event, Nambour Community Centre, alongside its JOIN program, will host a series of pop-ups in Quota Park.
The first will be held on Thursday, September 17, from 2pm–4pm and will feature a sausage sizzle, circus skills workshop, giant games and jewellery making. All activities are free, with all materials provided.
